Description
Hiking on the Arbuel trail
YOU WILL PARTICULARLY ENJOY:
- The historic Arbuel trail, carved out by mule trains transporting coal from the mines of Rive-de-Gier to the port of Condrieu.
- The Arbuel's botanical paradise, where the mild southern climate is reflected in the lush Mediterranean flora.
- The striking contrast between the wild ravine and the mineral-rich vineyard slopes.
- The spectacular views over the Rhône Valley, with Mont Ventoux sometimes visible on the horizon.
A PRIVILEGED EXPERIENCE:
- Foodies: make an appointment with a winegrower to enrich your cellar with prestigious vintages.
- Naturalists: after observing the Arbuel biotope, explore the Rhône riverbanks at the Île du Beurre observation centre.
- Entertainment lovers: stroll along the ViaRhôna and enjoy concerts, tastings and sporting activities in season.
- Heritage enthusiasts: take the time to read the information panels along the trail.
A LITTLE LOCAL CULTURE:
- The Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie AOCs are among the northernmost wines in the Rhône Valley. Their steep, sunny terroir has produced renowned wines since Gallo-Roman times.
- Côte-Rôtie, made mainly from the Syrah grape variety (sometimes supplemented with Viognier), is an aromatic, tannic red wine suitable for ageing.
- Condrieu, a white wine made from Viognier, develops floral and fruity aromas, with a golden colour over the years. Paired with Rigotte de Condrieu (AOP goat's cheese), it offers a perfect gastronomic match.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
