Domaine de Rosiers

The Domaine de Rosiers has 9 hectares of vineyards with Viognier and Syrah grapes producing the prestigious Côte-Rôtie wine in Ampuis and Condrieu in Saint-Michel-sur Rhône. The winery also makes a PGI Syrah in Tupin-et-Semons.
Description
One of the steepest vineyards in the world, some steep slopes can exceed 60% with a south/south-east exposure on schist, granite or sandy-silt soils.
Vines and Wines:
The vineyards of the estate on Côte-Rôtie are mainly on the northern part of the appellation more generally called "Côte Brune", lands mainly made up of schist and iron oxide, as opposed to the "Côte Blonde" in the south of the appellation, offering more degraded rocks and finer soils on Gneiss.
This majority of brown growing land gives the Syrah (98%) and Viognier (2%) grapes a tannic structure, a complexity and natural ageing capacity to our wines.
As for our Condrieu, it grows on the granite lands of Saint-Michel sur Rhône. This environment allows it to express all the aromatic complexity of Viognier while preserving its freshness and balance.
